It is NOT our job to judge what may or may not be right according to Christian standards. Jesus will work out the details, we should not worry about judging others in the name of The Lord. We are called to love. That is simply it. Jesus didn’t go to all those who believed in Him when He was on earth. He went to the broken, the blind, the ill, the hated, the outcasts. It did not matter to Him who you were and where you came from, because with Him you were something so beautiful and so unique. To Him, you are SO loved. So that brings me to the tragedies that hit us a week ago.
Where do you even begin to try and comprehend what happened two weekends ago? For many of us, we wonder how someone can wake up in the morning with the intention to harm someone else. To me, this makes no sense. To Jesus, this makes no sense. He has provided us a life and a life to the fullest, yet there is so much brokenness in the world that we live in. So…the overall question of this post is why is there suffering in this world?
I think the number one thing I can think of is because it is said that there is going to be suffering in this world. Jesus never says “maybe you will suffer” he says in John 16:33:
“
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”There is an overwhelming sense of peace when we choose to take our sufferings to The Lord. He will comfort us and He will clothe us in righteous armor. To defeat all the evil in this world we must rely on each other and rely on Jesus. I think that every time a tragedy like the Orlando shooting happens, my prayer remains constant. I pray that people feel the comfort of other people and that those people speak truth into their lives. Truth that can only be told by those who deeply love The Lord. I also pray that people of all different backgrounds will come together and stand together in love.
I don’t care who you are: black, white, tall, short, rich, poor, gay, straight, alien, human, OR WHATEVER YOU MAY BE… I pray for comfort and peace over you and with you. I pray that you remain faithful in what The Lord has promised. I pray that you do not listen to the voices of evil that try to tell you this is the end for you. I pray that no matter how broken the pieces are in your life right now, that you turn to God and let him begin the healing process for you. That he may provide purpose in your pain. Because I think for a lot of people, what happened in Orlando isn’t too far-fetched from what is happening in our own lives. I think that many people can relate to this tragedy on a very personal level, in any capacity. So if you are struggling or not understanding what The Lord is doing, hold fast to the word of God and remain still while he fights for you silently.
