Road Trip Essentials

I just started to begin this blog post by talking about how much I love road trips…and while I have grown to love them more and more, I actually wasn’t always in love with life on the road. Sometimes I feel like I would just rather be there already (wherever “there” even is), but recently I have learned to love the adventure that comes with a road trip. Today, I wanted to bring you my essentials for a long and short road trip. This adventure that you see in the pictures is brought to you by my hometown, a little caffeine and a whole lot of love for the journey.

Before we get into my top 5 essentials, I have to tell you about my 5 new besties (aka Diet Coke® flavors):

Diet Coke: The bestie that’s always been your go-to gal and never switched it up on you.

Feisty Cherry: She’s your best gal with an attitude. Probably the maid of honor in your wedding. Plus, cherry is my favorite flavor added to anything, so I have nothing to complain about here.

Ginger Lime: I would say she’s not your everyday red-head, but she is. A whole lot of sass and a friend you definitely want to keep around.

Twisted Mango: Do you know that friend that is always trying to convince you to take a beach vacation? This is that friend. Perfectly sweet, yet always stubborn. Need I say more?

Zesty Blood Orange: This is the friend who is always down for a road trip. Anything orange is automatically in my top favorites (go pokes, amiright?).

Can I be honest with you guys? I am definitely the girl that purchases new things at the grocery store based on their packaging. This is totally in part to my college roommate, Molly, who would always base her purchases on the “pretty” packages. These new Diet Coke cans definitely pass Molly’s “pretty” test. The sleek new design catches your eye and perfectly encompasses the bold and refreshing flavors. Think of the always amazing Diet Coke flavor, now just with a new hair do. Same hair, new look 😉

My top 5 road-trip essentials:

Caffeine and a snack. I prefer granola or some sort of almond protein bar. And if I had to pick one flavor to come along on the trip with me, Feisty Cherry would be my go-to.
Music. I turned to my Instagram stories for a little road-trip music inspiration and you guys DELIVERED. My favorites are on my Instagram stories!
Aux Cord and Portable Charger: No explanation needed. Your girl needs to be able to jam and charge her phone at once?
Comfy socks, a neck pillow and a blanket: I am the first to take off my shoes in the car (I have clean feet). Socks are my favorite way to get cozy and feel like home on a road trip. The pillow and blanket are for snoozing, but this is only allowed if you are going more than 4 hours. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the ride. You never know what you might miss by sleeping.
TV Show Downloads: I personally re-charge by having alone time. If you’re on an extended trip with multiple friends, downloaded TV shows are the way to go. I’m going to write a post on all my fave downloads soon!
